Teams from Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture are asking landowners to check the state of the trees following the high winds.
Hills, Forests and Glens teams are advising tree and landowners check the state of their trees for signs of damage, cracks, snap-outs and movement at the root-base.
Under the Tree Preservation Act, you do not require a licence if:
- The tree has fallen over
- The tree has partially uprooted (the trees roots are showing)
- The tree stem has snapped/ partially snapped
- To remove a branch on a registered tree if it has snapped off
Teams recommend you take pictures before carrying out any works, and id you are felling trees or undertaking work in a Registered Area, to send pictures, location and descriptions to the forestry email: Forestry@gov.im.
