Clara Issac has claimed a standout result at the Ironman 70.3 European Championships in Sweden, finishing second in her age group and crossing the line as the seventh placed woman overall.
In a record‑breaking field featuring 62 athletes in her AG and 616 female competitors, Issac delivered one of her strongest performances to date, ranking in the top 6% of swimmers, top 2% of cyclists, and an exceptional top 0.6% of runners.
Issac said she was proud to be part of such a landmark women’s field, adding that she has now entered her “33‑minute swim era” and is running a sub‑90‑minute half marathon off the bike, hitting every target she set for the season.
She was offered a slot for the World Championships but chose to decline, saying she wants to keep the focus on her own development and enjoyment of the sport.
Issac also credited her coach, Clo, describing her first season under guidance as “more than I could’ve hoped for.”
Her season continues with the IOM Ramsey Half, the Billboards IOM Triathlon Championships, and Ironman 70.3 Erkner still to come.
