Ellan Vannin Gymnastics Club is celebrating a period of significant achievement, marked by major coaching qualifications and a highly successful Girls Gymnastics Championships.
A landmark moment sees Stacey Garrett become the island’s only home-grown coach to attain the prestigious Level 5 coaching qualification, alongside qualifying as a National Judge.
Having started as a gymnast at EVGC, her achievement is a historic step for Manx gymnastics.
The Club also congratulated Claire Schreuder on becoming a National Judge, while Nicola Richardson and Helen Duggan are now Regional Judges, while Nicola has also qualified as Level 3 coach.
Extremely Proud
A club spokesperson said the qualifications involve “extensive study, practical work and examinations,” and the club is “extremely proud of these coaches and grateful for the time and dedication they put into developing their skills for the benefit of local gymnasts”.
EVGC also thanked Isle of Man Sport for supporting home-grown coaches, building on foundations laid by international coaches like World Champion Cristina Bontas.
In addition the Club also announced Jess Isherwood as a full-time director of general gymnastics, strengthening the club’s capacity to support its growing programme.
Championships
The Club recently hosted the Isle of Man Girls Gymnastics Championships, a highlight of the local sporting calendar. Overall champions across various age groups included Lucie Johnson, Millie Harris, Eden Oats, Indi Curtis, Eve Leo, Chelsea D’Ottavio, Lora Markova, and Megan Charmer.
Six Bronze-level gymnasts have qualified to represent the Island at the British Gymnastics National Finals in November. Furthermore, Amara Brogan and Elise Pease will compete at the Northern European Championships later this month.
