Marown’s promotion push continued last night as they ran out 3-1 winners in the Ardern & Druggan Division 2.
Two goals from Conor Gilbert and one from Carl Hartman were enough to see them beat Douglas Royal.
Not only did that win ensure they bounced back from their Woods Cup final defeat on Good Friday, but also ensured they remain just three points behind second placed Castletown, with three games in hand.
Town themselves beat Governors 4-1 thanks to goals from Alex Crawley, Oliver Leigh, Luca Simmons and Ross Crawford.
However they weren’t able to close the gap at the top as Colby put five past RYCOB, with goals from Sebastian Spiers, Ste Collister, James Galloway and a brace from Jordan Edge saw them win 5-0 to continue their title procession.
The other game in Div2 saw Malew draw 2-2 with Pulrose.
Peel’s to Lose
In the Canada Life Premier League, there were big wins for both top sides as Corinthians and Peel picked up big wins.
FA Cup winners Corinthians beat St John’s 5-0 thanks to goals from Connor Clark, Josh Ridings, Dan Simpson (2) and Ste Whitley to keep their five point lead at the top.
However, second placed Peel, with three games in hand, won 1-8 away at Foxdale to ensure the title’s destiny remains firmly in their hands.
At the bottom of th league, time is running out for Old Boys as they fell to a 1-2 defeat at home to Laxey despite a goal from Dan Hattersley,w with two from Ed Kangah securing the points for the miners.
The other game in the top flight saw Onchan beat St Mary’s with Tom Creer scoring both for the o’s.
