Cardinals of the Catholic Church have entered the Sistine Chapel as they begin to choose a new Pope.
Pope Francis, Jorge Mario Bergoglio, died aged 88 on Easter Monday.
There are currently 252 Catholic cardinals, but only 133 will vote for a new pope as they must be under 80 years of age to take part.
Considered one of the most secretive election processes in the world, it can sure be rivalled only by the way MHKs went out picking new members of the Legislative Council earlier this year.
Now they have entered they will have no contact with the outside world except for through the chimney or in the event of a medical emergency.
With a vote expected to be taken later today it is possible a new Pope will be elected tonight, but it is more likely the process will continue for several votes.
If the smoke that emerges is black, it will signal to the world that no new Pope has been chosen, whereas white smoke will confirm Habemus Papam, basically, we have a Pope.
