Corinthians beat Onchan on Saturday in a tight game at Ballafletcher as they opened up a three point gap at the top.
The Whites had to do it the hard way coming from behind, but Onchan also showed their own credentials in an impressive performance.
Onchan took the lead in the first half through Ethan Leivers as he headed home at the back post, but with several key players missing, the O’s played nice football, but couldn’t kick on.
Corinthains would draw level through a wonderful strike from Ben Ramsey which hit the underside of the bar on the way in.
Less than a minute later, a mess up at the back for Onchan left Corinthians skipper Josh Riding with a golden chance to make it 2-1, one which he didn’t spur.
Onchan were the architects of their own downfall again in the second half as Sean Doyle made it 3-1, but looked to suffer a nasty ankle injury which forced him off, best wishes to Sean on a quick recovery from that.
Victory leaves Corinthians three points clear at the top, however with their game postponed over the weekend, Laxey have a game in hand. Onchan meanwhile are only four points behind the whites, also with a game in hand.
While the title race will be enthralling in the coming weeks, so too will be the completion for Railway Cup spots and on this performance, the Os could well be in the running for the final come Boxing Day.
Drawing Isn’t Boring
Braddan faced Old Boys on Saturday and played out a highly entertaining 3-3 draw, sadly neither side has filled in their Full Time yet so not 100% sure on scorers.
The other game in the top flight saw St Mary’s turn Ayre over 0-4 at Andreas thanks to a brace from Joe Bergquist and goals from Tyrese Thompson and Jack Murray.
New Record
Castletown continued their 100% start to Ardern & Druggan Div 2 as they swept aside St Georges 5-0 as Geordies made the trip south of the Fairy Bridge.
Alex Crawley got four of the goals, but there’s nothing to say who got the fifth on Full Time.
That win leaves Town four points clear of Colby at the top and eight clear of RYCOB in third, albeit the Ramsey side does have a game in hand.
However, the Castletown fans would be forgiven for getting their bus timetables out to start planning for trips to Onchan, Laxey and Corinthians next season.
As for RYCOB, they beat Douglas Royal 5-1 on Saturday thanks to goals from Layton Ballard, Tom Hall and Adrian Skrabucha.
