What Budget is Available For AI National Office?

A northern MHK has asked several questions about the proposed National Office for AI Development and Regulation.

The Chief Minister confirmed the creation of a new National Office for AI Development and Regulation at the Government Conference last month.

In a written question, Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper asked to know what budget there is for the new national office.

As well as how it will be constituted, in which Department it will sit and what its responsibilities will be.

The Chief Minister has until October 15 to respond.

AI National Office

Mr Hooper has also asked the Minister for Enterprise Tim Johnston MHK several questions regarding the AI National Office.

He wishes to know whether the Digital Agency still intends to bring an AI strategy to Tynwald by the end of 2025, and why the Government has announced the development of a National Office for AI Development and Regulation prior to an AI strategy having been completed.

As well as, why the establishment of a National Office for AI Development and Regulation was not in the Digital Agency’s 2025 programme.

And whether responsibility for the delivery of the AI growth initiative will be transferred from the Digital Agency to the proposed National Office for AI Development and Regulation.

The Enterprise Minister has until October 15 to respond to Hooper’s questions.
