The Office of Fair Trading has issued a public safety notice concerning a product recall by retailer Hobbycraft.
The recall affects the “Giant Box of Craft” (product code 2601-0364) after asbestos was identified in small containers of sand included in the kit.
Asbestos is a banned substance because it poses a risk to health even at low levels of exposure.
A government post said: “At this stage, it is not known whether this item is available in Isle of Man shops; however, the OFT is contacting local retailers as a precaution.”
Hobbycraft has withdrawn the product from sale and initiated a full recall from customers.
Consumers who have purchased the kit are urged to cease use immediately and consult the official UK recall notice for detailed disposal and cleaning instructions.
