Onchan District Commissioners have finalised the local rate for the forthcoming financial year.
The board agreed to implement a 6.03% increase to be introduced from April.
Lead Member for Finance and General Purposes, Oliver Lockwood explained that a third of the rise is linked to a loan for street lighting upgrades across the Birch Hill estate, while a quarter stems from a decision to not budget a deficit from reserves.
“After making adjustments for these two major considerations, the District Rate has increased by less than inflation as measured by the Consumer Price Index, which was 3.3% for December 2025,” Mr Lockwood added.
