One of the largest international operations ever mounted against cybercriminal networks will be a key feature of the 2026 Countering Financial Crime Conference.
The conference will take place at the Villa Marina on Wednesday, August 12.
Officers from the US Treasury will outline the investigation that led to sweeping sanctions against members of a transnational criminal organisation.
The agenda also includes a presentation from the UK National Crime Agency on Operation Atlantic, which targets online investment fraud known as “pig butchering”.
Financial Crime Conference
Transparency International will discuss illicit financing and the movement of Russian wealth, while the Basel Institute on Governance will explain the role of its anti‑money laundering country lists.
HMRC representatives have been invited to highlight the department’s whistleblower reward scheme, modelled on the US IRS programme.
The conference will also cover emerging financial‑crime threats, the Isle of Man’s National Risk Assessment and preparations for the upcoming MONEYVAL mutual evaluation, with audience questions invited.
The event is organised by the Isle of Man Financial Services Authority alongside government agencies and enforcement bodies.
David Baker, Senior Manager in the Authority’s AML/CFT Supervision Division, said the speakers will offer “fascinating insight into global efforts to combat organised financial crime”, adding that collaboration and awareness of red flags help strengthen the island’s defences.
