Colleen Dale‑Beeton has formally announced she will stand as an independent candidate for Glenfaba and Peel in the 2026 House of Keys General Election.
In her statement, Dale‑Beeton said many voters were “sick of bad governance, terrible financial decisions, and a complete lack of transparency and accountability,” adding that successful candidates would need the courage to make “bold and maybe unpopular decisions” in the next term.
She highlighted a range of issues she believes have worsened in recent years, including pressures on hospital, general healthcare and dental services, deteriorating roads, rising poverty, and major capital projects with escalating costs and limited public clarity.
She also criticised what she sees as UK‑style solutions being applied to Manx problems, saying she wants to see “Manx solutions to Manx issues”.
Breakdown in Communication
Dale‑Beeton said the breakdown in communication between government and the public has eroded trust, and she wants to help restore accountability and confidence.
She described the Isle of Man as “unique” and said its character, landscapes and way of life should be protected rather than reshaped to mirror the UK.
If elected, she said she would not promise to fix everything, but would “question and challenge” decisions she believes are not in the best interests of residents, pushing for clarity, financial accountability and a renewed sense of trust.
She pledged to put her constituency first and said she would not “sit in a corner and take the easy path”.
Alex Perriam, James Hampton and Andrew Harris have also declared their intention to stand in the election.
Sitting MHKs Tim Crookall and Kate Lord-Brennan are yet to declare their intentions.
