Alex Perriam has announced he will stand as an independent candidate for Glenfaba and Peel in the 2026 House of Keys General Election.
Perriam, who has lived in Glen Maye or Peel for most of his life, attended Patrick School, Peel Clothworkers, QE2 and the Isle of Man College.
He has long been involved in local sport, playing and coaching football for Peel, serving on the junior committee, coaching Western Vikings juniors and sponsoring the club.
He also trained at Peel Judo Club, representing the island at the Island Games in 1989 and 1991. His family remains closely connected to the annual Jude’s Sports Hall athletics event held in memory of his mother.
Listening First
Announcing his candidacy, Perriam said his career in business management, teaching, mentoring and community volunteering has shaped his belief that “the best solutions come from listening first, working together and putting people before politics.”
He highlighted concerns shared by many residents, including access to affordable housing, healthcare pressures, the rising cost of living, support for local businesses and farming, and protecting Peel’s character while ensuring the west retains a strong voice in Tynwald.
Perriam said he intends to meet as many residents as possible in the months ahead, adding that his campaign will focus on listening to what matters most to the community and delivering practical solutions.
He pledged to be “visible, approachable and accountable” if elected, representing everyone in Glenfaba and Peel with “honesty, integrity and common sense.”
James Hampton and Andrew Harris have also declared their intention to stand in the election.
Sitting MHKs Tim Crookall and Kate Lord-Brennan are yet to declare their intentions.
