Isle of Man Prison chiefs have confirmed the death of an inmate.
He was Taylor Jake Murphy, who was being held on remand.
A spokesperson for the Prison and Probation Service said: “Mr Murphy’s family have been informed and are being supported. The death has been reported to the coroner.
“Police are currently working with the Isle of Man Prison to understand the full circumstances.”
The spokesperson added: “As is standard procedure following any death in custody, the circumstances will be subject to an independent investigation. It would be inappropriate to comment further while that process is ongoing.
“The Isle of Man Prison and Probation Service extends its condolences to Mr Murphy’s family and friends at this difficult time.”
No further information will be released at this stage.
