Dandara has brought the Lighthouse Charity to the island for the first time, running mental health awareness sessions across its construction sites.
The initiative, delivered with the Lighthouse Charity’s specialist wellbeing team, encouraged open conversations around emotional, physical and financial wellbeing.
Lighthouse provides a 24/7 confidential helpline, counselling access, and practical support for construction workers and their families.
Lighthouse representative Sam Wilson led the on‑site talks, sharing personal experiences to help break down stigma and prompt honest discussion among crews.
Respect & Openness
Paul Roberts, Dandara’s Health and Safety Manager, said the strong engagement showed how important it is to bring support directly to the workplace. “The level of engagement from our teams was incredibly encouraging as colleagues listened with respect and openness,” he said.
Local groups Isle Stand Up to Suicide and Ed Space also took part, highlighting the wider support available on the island.
Ed Space, which supported more than 1,700 people last year, reinforced the message that no one has to face challenges alone.
Dandara said the sessions form part of its ongoing commitment to workforce wellbeing, alongside measures such as trained mental‑health first aiders on site each Monday.
