The Treasury Minister says it is “difficult to answer” a question on specific ferry fare differences due to the Steam Packet’s dynamic pricing.
The response came from Dr Alex Allinson following a query from Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse.
Mr Moorhouse had asked on which dates travellers would find certain price differences between night and day return sailings.
Dr Allinson said: “The difference in cost would depend on the number of special offer fares already booked at the time and would change as other bookings are made.”
He outlined that the scheduled overnight service from Heysham operates every night except for monthly maintenance nights, when the Manxman sails to Belfast, as well as Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve.
Dr Allinson also noted that the overnight sailing is included in a five-day special offer, even when this is technically a sixth day, adding this “should benefit a lot of passengers”.
