Douglas East MHK Joney Faragher has repeated her call action over the long-vacant Park Road School site in Douglas.
The former school site has remained undeveloped since its demolition in 2012.
Writing on her constituency page, the Manx Labour Party leader said: “The school was demolished in 2012, and since then… nothing. No school, no housing, no community space. Just an empty site in the middle of our capital city.”
Ms Faragher expressed frustration at the lack of progress, saying she also “regularly hear[s] from constituents” who are also frustrated by the lack of progress.
Her original motion proposed the site for a new school, but the Council of Ministers removed this reference, instead committing to present development plans by February.
Responding to the amendment, she said: “That’s fine, as long as they follow through.
“The most important thing now is that this land doesn’t sit idle for another decade. We need to see real, meaningful progress – whether that’s housing, a school, community facilities, or other much-needed infrastructure.
“Douglas deserves better than empty spaces and promises. Let’s make sure this opportunity doesn’t go to waste.”
