Douglas City Council retaining all nine Green Flags awarded last year by the UK environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy.
The prestigious benchmark recognises the very best public green spaces across the British Isles.
It marks another year of success for the Council in the scheme which celebrates safe, clean, well-maintained and sustainably managed spaces that serve the community.
Green Flags
The nine sites in the island’s capital that have retained Green Flag status for 2025 are:
• Noble’s Park
• Loch Promenade
• Douglas Golf Course
• Douglas Head
• Derby Square
• Kaye Memorial Garden
• Summerhill Glen
• Douglas Borough Cemetery
• Hutchinson Square
Since entering the scheme in 2013 with just two awards, the Council has steadily increased its recognition.
‘Significant Accomplishment
Councillor Natalie Byron-Teare, Chair of the Regeneration and Community Committee, said: “Green Flag status is not automatically renewed and retaining all nine sites is a significant accomplishment.
“It’s a reflection of sustained effort across departments, particularly Parks Services and Cleansing who look after and maintain the sites, to not only meet but exceed the rigorous standards of the judging criteria year after year.
“These spaces are essential to the wellbeing of our residents and visitors, offering clean, safe environments for relaxation, activity and community life.”
