A series of upgrades have been completed across Noble’s Hospital as part of the DoI’s bus stop improvement programme.
These improvements are designed to make public transport more accessible, especially for those with mobility challenges.
At the main entrance bus stop a kassel kerb has been installed, a new bus shelter and a rebuilt pedestrian crossing with improved disability access.
The south entrance bus stop has been re-sited to a more accessible location and a new access.
Improved Bus Stops
Grianagh Court bus stop has had a kassel kerb installed.
The Hospice bus stop has had a kerb installed and new surfaces and tactile paving added for safer road crossing.
This work was delivered by JCK Ltd, in collaboration with DOI’s Public Estates and Housing Division and Highway Services Division, Bus Vannin and Manx Care.
Kassel Kerb?
A Kassel Kerb is a specially designed kerb with a curved shape that allows buses to pull in closer to the pavement.
The DoI says this reduces the gap between the bus and the kerb, making it easier and safer for passengers—especially wheelchair users, people with mobility aids, and parents with prams—to board and exit the bus.
