FC isle of Man’s Summer Festival of Football kicks off today as the club host Altrincham, Radcliffe and Fleetwood Town.
The festival gets underway at 3pm with Altrincham v Radcliffe.
This evening’s game sees the Ravens host League Two Fleetwood Town at 7pm in what is arguably the most eye catching game in the club’s short history.
Speaking about the festival, vice-chair Lee Dixon said: “This year we’ve got a format that works, whereby we’ve got four teams. It’s almost like two semi-finals on a Friday, and the two winners will then play on the Sunday, and the two losers will play for third and fourth place play-offs, so there will be a winner this year. Hopefully that makes it a little bit more competitive.
“But also, the format has left us with a free day, and we felt it was important to have that free day because it gives the clubs an opportunity, maybe to have Q&A’s with the fans, or go and do something to mix and mingle with their fans, or give their players time together on the island to see what the island has to offer outside of sport and team bond.”
Lee said being able to host a League Two side such as Fleetwood is a “groundbreaking” moment for the club and he hopes the community turns out to watch what will be a great weekend of football.
