Douglas Rugby Club will host Altrincham Kersal tomorrow at 2:15pm on home turf at Port E Chee.
The game will be a 6th versus 8th battle that could result in the bonus-point winner climbing up to 5th.
The match at Stelfox Avenue in October went to the wire after Douglas rattled up a 14-point lead, only to succumb 25-20 at the death as Douglas continuity went out of the window and AK squeezed over the line.
Four wins for Douglas
Since then Douglas have knitted together, and four wins on the bounce since 2nd December bodes well.
Although losing Brad Bowmar, Percy Hampton and Josh Duncan on their travels, Wilf Kermode and Douglas rugby development officer Brett Pyke are likely to stand in, and Angus Wheeler continues his promising comeback after injury.
With Crewe & Nantwich hosting Burnage, and Douglas having a game in hand on Burnage via Kirby Lonsdale’s re-arranged visit here on March 9, the fully booked NFU pre-match lunch will be as lively as ever.
By sheer co-incidence, AK’s last visit in October 2022 was also hosted by NFU and resulted in a 39-19 home win.
Roadworks

Advice from the Highway Services:
From Wednesday, January 24, the new road surface around the Centenary Oak roundabout will begin. This requires a change in the current traffic arrangements.
From yesterday (24 January) there will be no access onto Peel Road from Braddan Road. Traffic for central Douglas from the Strang and Noble’s Hospital will bediverted via Ballafletcher Road.
Traffic from central Douglas heading to the Strang or Noble’s Hospital will be diverted via Ballafletcher Road.
Traffic travelling via the one-way system past Braddan Church will still be able to travel up Braddan Road and also into Douglas via Peel Road and Quarterbridge.
This new arrangement will be in place until the resurfacing of the Centenary Oak roundabout is complete. With the current predicted weather, this may mean these new arrangements will be in place for several days this week.
