It’s good to see that Hong Kong based Manxman Ed Gumbley is still running so well.
Distance runner Ed represented the Isle of Man four times at the Island Games, winning a bronze medal in the Half Marathon in Bermuda in 2013 with an extremely brave run on a day of great heat and humidity.
Originally from Onchan, Ed moved to Hong Kong more than a decade ago and still competes regularly and to a high standard at the age of 48.
He reports: “Making the most of the cooler weather and the best time for training and racing in Hong Kong! A decent end to 2024, a break over Christmas following the Taipei Marathon (which he completed in a time of 2:45:11), and not a bad start to 2025!
“Overall win at the Salomon 10K trail race to start the year and category wins at the UNICEF Half Marathon at Disneyland and today’s Fat Choi race welcoming in the Year of the Snake!”
Looking at his photos, I have to say that Ed hasn’t aged a day in ten years, and still looks super-fit as he tackles his 2025 racing programme.
