Julie Edge has confirmed she will stand again for Onchan in the House of Keys General Election in September.
The MHK, who has represented Onchan since 2016, when she was elected as a Liberal Vannin member, said she believes experienced representation is “more important than ever” given the challenges facing the island.
“When leadership is strong, services improve. When it is not, the public pays the price,” Ms Edge said.
She highlighted two key reforms she has secured: legislation on misconduct in public office, now promised in the 2026 legislative programme, and new rules requiring candidates to publicly declare interests and affiliations before polling day.
“People deserve to know who they are really voting for,” she said.
Ms Edge says she has concerns about the proposed Mooir Vannin offshore wind farm, saying: “Constituents and the wider public have serious concerns that deserve answers. I will always represent those concerns and ensure people are properly heard.”
She said her focus includes the economy, healthcare, education, pensions and democratic accountability.
She added: ‘The years ahead will bring serious challenges for our Island economically, socially and politically.
“We need experienced representatives prepared to ask difficult questions, protect democratic scrutiny and ensure public money delivers for the people who pay for it.”
Ms Edge’s constituency colleague Rob Callister has previously announced his intention to also seek another five years in the Keys.
