Isle of Man Meats has confirmed that an electrical breakdown at the meat plant stopped cattle processing today.
The Meat Plant said the electrical fault was beyond its control.
Today’s (January 20) breakdown has resulted in an unknown number of cattle being held in the lairage area.
Isle of Man Meats commented that the held cattle “are being cared for in accordance with our animal welfare standards”.
The meat plant confirmed to Manx.News that all scheduled cattle “will be processed this week”.

This month, Isle of Man Meats informed producers that there is a six week wait time for cattle to be accepted into the IOM Government owned abattoir.
There is also a two week wait time for lambs to be accepted.
