The island’s emergency services and utilities workers have been thanked for keeping the island going during the recent storm.
Storm Darragh proved to be one of the worst in recent years, with trees felled, power going down and services stretched.
At the start of today’s Tynwald sitting, the Chief Minister thanked those who worked through the storm to keep vital services going and restoring power and access when they were cut off.
Mr Cannan said: “Can I just take a moment to pay tribute to the emergency services, the emergency services joint control room, the Civil Defence staff and the Department of Infrastructure and the Manx Utilities Authority, as well as those private individuals who worked tirelessly over the weekend and into the start of this week in the face of storm Dara yesterday.
“Honourable members, I’d like to you to know I wrote to the chief officer at the Department of Home Affairs and the DoI as well as the chief Executive of the MUA, thanking them and their workforce for their efforts for the weekend and I’m sure on my members would wish to join me in endorsing those thanks.”
