Emily Aces Assessment

Ramsey Lifeboat Station has celebrated yet another success as crew member Emily passed her rigorous Tier 2 assessment, marking a significant milestone in her RNLI training.

The Tier 2 pass-out is a comprehensive evaluation that tests every essential skill required to operate an inshore lifeboat.

The evaluation began with a 30-minute theory session, followed by a demanding two-hour practical exercise at sea.

Emily was tested on skills from her earlier Tier 1 assessment, alongside new challenges including radar operation and helm control.

Ramsey Lifeboat Station said: “We say a huge congratulations to Emily after successfully passing her final intensive Tier 2 passout. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻”

Tier 2

The Tier 2 assessment is a thorough examination of all essential competencies required to crew the station’s Shannon-class lifeboat.

It covers collision avoidance regulations, radar use, basic navigation, and critical scenarios such as helming during a man-overboard incident.

Candidates must also prove they have retained Tier 1 skills, including anchoring, towing, and seamanship.
