Emission Analysts Appointed to Create Plan

Specialist emissions analysts have been appointed to support the development of the government’s next Climate Change Plan.

Minister for Environment, Food and Agriculture, Clare Barber, confirmed that Aether Ltd have been appointed to support this.

Mrs Barber said: “Their appointment will be in place until the Climate Change Plan 2027 – 2032 has been completed and signed off by the council of ministers which is expected to be in 24 months time.”

The cost for the work falls below the £100,000 threshold for a ‘quick quote’ procurement, but it isn’t said exactly how much it will cost taxpayers.

The new plan will cover 2027 to 2032.

The Minister said: “The Climate Change Act 2021 requires a five-year climate change plan to be in effect at all times from 2022. T

“he current Isle of Man Climate Change Plan ends in 2027 and the next will run from 2027 to 2032.”

The plan must be sufficient to meet the island’s emission reduction targets.
