Isle of Man Veteran AC race walker Marie Jackson has produced another outstanding performance on the international stage.
Representing Great Britain, Marie has claimed the individual bronze medal in the women’s 65 age group at the 10km road race during the European Masters Athletics Championships (Non Stadia), held in Catania, Sicily, on Friday.
Competing against a strong international field, Marie finished third in a time of 1:04:29.

Fellow Team GB athlete Susan Payne (Aldershot, Farnham & District AC) took gold in 1:02:03, while Austria’s Ulrike Streidnig secured silver in 1:04:11, just 18 seconds ahead of Marie in a closely contested race.
Marie’s achievement is all the more impressive due to the fact she has been managing a hamstring injury in recent weeks.
Her determination and resilience not only earned her a place on the podium but also played a key role in securing the women’s team gold medal for Great Britain.
Marie’s accomplishments in race walking over nearly 30 years have been consistently magnificent, and she is an athlete who inspires so many people in the sport, not only through her performances but also through putting so much back into the sport.
