Ferries to be Rescheduled Due to Water Depths

The Steam Packet will be required to reschedule some its sailings until operational water depths in the harbour are achieved.

Operational water depths are hoped be completed by dredges removing accumulated material.

The Company will work to minimise any disruption to customers and provide as much advance notice as possible sailing changes.

Stuck in Mud

Earlier this month Manxman’s became stuck on mud in Douglas Harbour.

The Steam Packet said the combination of low spring tide and air pressure combined to cut tide further than predicted.

While manoeuvring in the port the vessel became stuck on mud for a short time and was not able to continue its berthing operation until the tide came up sufficiently.

Water Depths

The Steam Packet appreciates the quick work by the Department of Infrastructure’s Harbours Division to implement additional dredging work following the grounding incident,

It says that “rescheduling will be required until operational water depths in the harbour are achieved through capital dredges removing accumulated material”.

TheSteam Packet would like to apologise in advance to any users affected by changes to services.
