Two-thirds of vehicles stopped by Police for their winter safety campaign were found to have defects.
The discovery was made at the first Operation Uplift checkpoint in Crosby on Monday evening.
Officers from the Roads Policing Unit were assisted by Isle of Man Customs and Excise and the Vehicle Testing Centre.
Of the 27 vehicles stopped, 18 had minor defects, resulting in Vehicle Defect Rectification Notices.
One vehicle had a seriously defective tyre, with the driver of that vehicle receiving points on their licence and a fine.
Another checkpoint is planned for a different location later this week.
