Isle of Man Meats have released the details of the five beef products that have been recalled as of today (February 2).
Today’s recall follows one only a few days ago, along with allegations of the taxpayer funded meat plant disposing an unknown amount of beef due to machinery breakdowns in the plant.
The following products are the latest products from IOM Meats to be recalled:
- Manx Beef Diced; Beef – Batch 19625 – Use By 05.02.2024 and 07.02.2024
- Manx Beef Minced; Beef 300g – Batch 19625 – Use By 05.02.2024 and 07.02.2024
- Manx Beef Minced; Beef 500g – Batch 19625 – Use By 05.02.2024 and 07.02.2024
- Manx Beef Minced; Beef 750g – Batch 19625 – Use By 05.02.2024 and 07.02.2024
- Manx Beef; Beef Carvery Joint – Batch 19625 – Use By 20/02/2024
IOM Meats claim that these products were delivered to retail customers on the evening of the January 30 and withdrawn before noon on the January 31.
It says that the only retail business where these had reached the shelves was Tesco, and the recall took place quickly in line with company procedures.
According to the Meat Plant these products were recalled as a result of the ‘use by’ dates on the packages being incorrect.
It is asking customers that have purchased these products listed above please return to the point of purchase.
IOM Meats
The Manx National Farmers Union (MNFU) is calling for an independent investigation in to the recent alleged disposal of beef from Isle of Man Meats.
Manx.News exclusively revealed that a quantity of beef allegedly had been destroyed at the Government owned abattoir.
Despite our several requests for Isle of Man Meats and DEFA to reveal the quantity and value of the product that was destroyed, the government run company and the Department of Environment, Food & Agriculture, both refuse to provide the details.
