Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper has published a list of health cuts that Manx Care had originally planned to publish earlier this month.
Initial released to the media under embargo, the planned release never happened, while an urgent question set for this week’s Keys sitting was not taken due to the minister being absent through sickness.
Tonight the Liberal Vannin leader Mr Hooper, who has been given a copy of the embargoed release, published details which outlined plans to suspend elective surgeries, close selected impatient wards, hold a recruitment freeze across Manx Care, a centralisation of job planning and strengthen financial controls.
Posting the release on his website, Mr Hooper said he has “no reason to believe it is anything other than the genuine article” and said the “government has a lot of questions to answer” in relation to the decisions.
Mr Hooper also said he had been contacted by islanders who have already had appointments cancelled despite no official word coming from Manx Care or the government about this policy.
