Around 40 people braved severe weather to attend the island’s first Isle Be Ready community drop‑in session at Andreas Parish Hall.
The event brought together representatives from across the island’s emergency and public services, including the Constabulary, Ambulance Service, Emergency Planning Unit, Civil Defence, Fire and Rescue Service, Department of Infrastructure, Public Health, Coastguard and Manx Utilities.
Visitors received practical guidance on how households can prepare for emergencies and strengthen community resilience.
Isle Be Ready
Emergency Planning Officer Jane Kelly said: “About 40 people turned up in atrocious weather. They were really engaged with us and went away with some useful information.
“It was lovely to meet the people of Andreas and discuss how they keep resilient in the community and we were made to feel so welcome.”
Further resources will be published online for those unable to attend, and more Isle Be Ready sessions are planned throughout the year.
The next event takes place at Arbory Parish Hall on Wednesday, March 11 from 3pm to 7pm.
