T’was the weekend before Christmas and gales batter the island for the 6578th time in 30 days.
Whilst many of us participate the the last minute panic shopping sport, we will have to do so whilst holding onto shopping bags that are trying their best to identify as kites.
Or you could be smart and get up early to do your shopping in dry-ish weather with a lack of gales.
If you leave it until the afternoon you’ll then be participating in the extreme sport of kit-opping (kite-shopping).
This morning the rain will clear with sunny spells and isolated showers following and winds will increase strong to gale force from the west by late afternoon.
Gales are forecast to build from 30-35mph with gusts of 50-55mph.
Whilst it will start to turn into a reasonably wild day, temperatures will be mild enough at 10°C.
Gales Incoming
It will be windy on Sunday with gale to severe gale force northwesterlies giving gusts of 50-60mph, and 65mph in a few places.
The Ronaldsway Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning for gales with wind speeds of 60-65mph forecast.
Showers will become frequent and heavy in places, wintry on hills, then later in the evening and overnight winds will ease, becoming much lighter by dawn Monday.
We will look into the week where no one knows what day it is in just a moment, but first we shall take a little dive into the world of the unknown.
Mystic Moz
The full moon has been and gone, as has the dreaded mercury retrograde… but that doesn’t mean everything will turn back to ‘normal’, as we are now in mercury’s shadow period.
While nobody is safe from Mercury retrograde’s mischievous antics, its shadow periods can act as a compass that can help you sail through its chaotic waters.
You should expect post-shadow periods to be rife with technical hiccups and misunderstandings as the planet of communication catches up to speed.
That said, the shadow period following Mercury retrograde is a great time to reflect on what you’ve learned and how you’ve grown during Mercury’s backspin.

What Day is it?
Back to the weather, another thing we can’t control, are you seeing a theme here? Really we can’t control anything, so the only option is to try to navigate with whatever circumstances we find ourselves in.
On Monday (December 23) dry for much of the day, turning cloudy later with rain (2-5mm) arriving overnight.
The wind NW 20-25mph, backing W 15-20mph through the morning, then SW later.
Visibility will be good, falling moderate in rain overnight. Hill fog at times.
Christmas Eve (December 24) isn’t looking too bad for the pre-Christmas Day sesh (Sam if you’re reading this don’t come home pissed and eat the food bare, it didn’t go down too well last year.
Anyhow, it will be a largely cloudy day and mostly dry!
The wind shan’t be too savage as its forecast a SW 10-15mph, occasionally 20mph.
Using my Mystic Moz powers of seeing into the future Christmas Day looks to be a little breezy but mainly dry – let’s hope that comes true!
