There is a good news for sea swimmers on the island as all designated ‘bathing water’ have achieved a ‘good’ or ‘excellent’ rating.
All eight designated zones have achieved the ratings for the 2025 season under Europe’s highest water quality standards.
These standards are designed to protect public health and ensure the safety of bathers by setting strict guidelines for water quality.
Regular testing helps identify potential risks and ensures that designated beaches remain safe, clean, and enjoyable for everyone.

- Bay ny Carrickey – Good
- Castletown – Good
- Douglas Central – Good
- Glen Wyllin – Excellent
- Port Erin – Good
- Port St Mary (Chapel Beach) – Good
- North Ramsey – Excellent
- South Ramsey – Good
Water samples are taken and analysed by marine scientists from the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture weekly throughout the summer to maintain these high standards.
People can also access monthly results from eleven non-designated sites across the island.
