Routine GP appointments will pause from 1pm on Wednesday while GPs attend an essential education and training session.
Practices will remain open during the afternoon for booking future appointments, requesting test results and ordering repeat prescriptions, but no routine consultations will take place after 1pm.
An urgent GP service will operate from 1pm to 6pm. Patients needing urgent medical advice must phone their own practice, where staff will triage calls and arrange access to the on‑call GP. It is not a drop‑in clinic. The Manx Emergency Doctor Service (MEDS) will take over as usual from 6pm.
People with life‑threatening emergencies should call 999 and ask for the Ambulance Service.
The public is being encouraged to choose the most appropriate service for their condition. The Minor Injuries and Illnesses Unit at Ramsey Cottage Hospital can treat a wide range of non‑emergency issues; community pharmacies can support many conditions through the Minor Ailments Scheme; and opticians should be the first point of contact for minor eye problems.
For dental emergencies, patients should contact their own dentist or call 642785 if they are not currently registered.
