Five of the island’s leading brass bands will unite for a spectacular afternoon of music in Laxey next Sunday.
The Great Laxey Brass Band Festival is hosted by “Visit Laxey, Visit Garff”, runs.
Thos year will see Castletown Silver Band, Manx Youth Band, Ramsey Town Band, Rushen Silver Band and Onchan Silver Band perform at three outdoor venues: the Glen Gardens Pavilion, the Queen’s Hotel, and the Village Square.
The day will culminate in a massed performance in the village square at 4pm, when all five bands play together.
Laxey Commissioner Marinda Fargher said: “The festival has become one of the most loved events on the Isle of Man’s musical calendar. It’s a wonderful day out for families, music fans, and visitors alike – a true feast for the ears and eyes as the brass bands fill every corner of the village with energy.”
Chair of Garff Commissioners, Stan Ryzak said: “There’s something truly special about all the island’s brass bands coming together – it’s a celebration of our shared love of music and community.”
Family entertainment includes children’s entertainers, a storytelling tent, and bouncy castles. Admission is free.
The event is on Sunday May 3 from 1pm until 5pm.
