Manx sprinter Carla Teece made a great start to her winter indoor season at Sportcity in Manchester at the weekend.
In her first competition representing Edge Hill University (Liverpool), Carla smashed her personal best time for 60 metres with 7.85 seconds, her first time dipping under 8 seconds.
That is a significant improvement on her previous best of 8.02 seconds set at the same venue in January this year, beating her own Isle of Man U20 women’s record.
Happy Carla
The event was the Manchester Cup 2024, and Carla made the perfect start to university competition by setting the second fastest time of the day out of the 17 universities represented at the competition.
She said “I was so happy! It was a great start to the season, my first time breaking the 8-second barrier.
“I can’t wait to see what the 2024/25 season will bring for my new chapter”.
