Billy Harris has exited Wimbledon after losing in straight sets in the second round.
The 30-year-old lost to Portugal’s Nuno Borges in sets 3-6, 4-6, 6-7 (7-9)Â
Having won his first service game, Harris was broken in his second as the Portuguese number one took an early advantage.
The Albany Tennis Club vice-president had openings to claim back that break but was unable to do so as Borges took the first set.
In the second set Harris held his first service game but was unable to hold the second as Borges began to grow more into the game.
Harris had six break points across the set as he looked to find a way back into the game but was unable to take advantage of any of them as Borges managed to hold off a fightback to take the second set 6-4.
With each player holding their service in the early stages of the third set, Harris’ serve and aggression ensured he forced Borges all the way.
Sadly for him he was unable to dictate the play to Borges quite enough to crack the Portuguese man who eventually triumphed 9-7 in the tie break.
