The Isle of Man Civil Aviation Administration is asking the public for their say on policy and guidance for providers of Ground Handling at the Airport.
Ground handling are the services necessary for an aircraft’s arrival at, and departure from, an airport, other than air traffic services.
The proposed Isle of Man policy and guidance aims to:
- Establish the Isle of Man’s scope of and criteria for the safety oversight of ground handling services;
- Establish the baseline aviation safety standards for ground handling services;
- Promote the use of scalable management systems proportionate to the size and complexity of the operation;
- Acknowledge the continued use of current industry standards.
The Administration particularly encourages responses from any persons or organisations associated with or affected by the following ground handling services:
- Ground supervision;
- Passenger handling;
- Baggage acceptance, handling, movement on the apron, and loading/unloading of the aircraft;
- Cargo and mail handling, movement on the apron, and loading/unloading of the aircraft;
- Apron handling of aircraft including marshalling; aircraft securing, towing and pushback;
- Aircraft turnaround.
