There are 23 questions for ministers tomorrow morning as MHKs seek answers on benefit payments and health funding among a range of topics.
After last week’s urgent question was delayed due illness, MHKs will asked the health minister about cuts and, perhaps most likely about exactly what Tynwald was told in January.
Lawrie Hooper (Ramsey) will open the bowling for the back benches as he asks the Treasury Minister how people who don’t have a bank account will receive benefits now they can’t access MiCards.
Dr Allinson will then be asked by Jason Moorhouse (Arbory, Castletown and Malew) about his role in negotiations over doctors’ pay. Last week we reported the money for pay rises, believed to be about £2.2m will come from extra funding instead of from existing budgets.
The third question this morning will likely draw the biggest attention however as Joney Faragher (Douglas East) asks Claire Christian whether any reductions to elective surgeries or other services are being proposed or planned; and if she will make a statement.
While we now know the answer to that, the issue for the health minister will be her comments in January Tynwald where she said that “no services are under threat”, though it is arguable if this tallies with what his since become public over how extra funding was granted to Manx Care.
