A man has been sentenced to three years and five months in prison for his role in an organised crime group that created fake job offers to exploit the Isle of Man’s immigration system.
Sagar Joon, described as the ‘facilitator’, conspired with others to produce counterfeit job offer letters and falsify certificates of entry.
The group charged victims significant sums, with one person paying £25,000 for non-existent care sector jobs.
Joon was sentenced on Wednesday after pleading guilty and he will be deported upon his release with a five-year exclusion order.

The case was part of Operation Helios, a Criminal Investigation Department probe into the group which created fictitious job offers, falsifying letters purportedly signed by genuine care home managers to obtain visas.
Senior Investigating Officer Chief Inspector Steven Berry, said: “Operation Helios was launched in February 2023, a complex and challenging investigation, it was led by the Criminal Investigation Department, working closely with colleagues from the Isle of Man Immigration Service.”
He added: “This conviction is testament to the hard work and dedication of all those officers and partner agencies involved.
“Our shared commitment is to safeguard vulnerable individuals and to ensure that the Isle of Man remains a safe and secure place to live, aligned with securing our Island strategy.”
