The schedule for works to fix mooring issues at the Ferry Terminal in Liverpool has had to be changed.
Recent adverse weather has affected the availability of barge Lara 1, which is a heavy lifting crane, meaning that work to modify the mooring fenders at the terminal has been unavoidably delayed.
The DoI said the contractors were unable to source an alternative barge.
The original lifting window of November 5 to 8 can no longer be achieved. This is due to Lara 1’s prior commitments overrunning as a result of weather conditions, restricting her release for the ferry terminal in Liverpool.
Reinstated
The berth at the terminal is currently unavailable for normal vessel operations until the fender has been safely removed and reinstated.
As a result, the DoI has requested the Steam Packet to reschedule the November 15 and 16 sailings to operate to and from Heysham.
The DoI has apologised to travellers for any inconvenience caused.
Previously the weekend sailings for November 1 and 2, as well as 8 and 9, have been announced as moving to Heysham.
