Loganair Strike Threat Averted: Cabin Crew Accept Pay Deal

Loganair cabin crew have overwhelmingly voted to accept an enhanced two-year pay deal, successfully averting potential strike action across the airline’s network.

The deal, negotiated by the union Unite, covers approximately 80 cabin crew members based across key UK and Ireland regional hubs, including Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, City of Derry, Southampton, and here in the Isle of Man.

Key Highlights of the Deal:

Year 1 (Backdated to April 2024): An 8% increase in basic pay, plus enhanced standby payments and allowances, alongside a one-off £500 payment. This brings the total value of the first-year package to 11.3%.

Year 2 (Starting April 2025): A further 8% increase on basic pay, matching increases to allowances and standby payments, and a second one-off £500 payment.

Overall Impact: By April 2026, the cumulative two-year agreement will lift cabin crew take-home pay by 21.7% compared to current levels.

Averting Industrial Action

The agreement follows an emphatic ballot last week where over 98% of voting members backed strike action. The strong mandate pushed airline management back to the negotiating table before any flights were disrupted.

Sharon Graham, Unite General Secretary, welcomed the result.

“The Loganair pay deal only came about because our members were prepared to take strike action, if necessary, to get what they deserved. It’s a good deal which will significantly lift the take-home pay of the cabin crew. The message is clear: if you want better jobs, pay, and conditions, then join Unite.”

Carrie Donoghue, Unite Industrial Officer, praised the unity of the crew:

“The Loganair cabin crew remained resolute and determined to get a fair pay offer from the company. The deal over two years is well above inflation and it recognises the hard work of our members. We are pleased that Loganair ultimately saw sense and got back round the negotiating table to make an enhanced offer before any industrial action had to take place.”
