A café and events venue in Laxey is seeking permission to convert part of its building into an indoor children’s play area.
The proposal covers the multi‑functional event space at the Salmon Lake Centre, which has historically hosted weddings, wakes, conferences and community gatherings.
The café/restaurant on site will continue to operate daily, providing seating and refreshments for families using the new facility.
Play Area
No structural changes or external alterations are planned. The play area would sit entirely within the existing building, using current access and parking arrangements. The venue has 24 approved parking spaces across two car parks.
Planning documents say the change of use would diversify the long‑established operation, support year‑round activity and offer an all‑weather attraction for local families and visitors. The soft‑play installation would be designed by House of Play.
The event space is currently used twice weekly by a church group, but this is described as a temporary arrangement.
The planning application can be found here.
