Innovation Challenge: Meet Earthscope

Earthscope, an Isle of Man-based sustainability training company, has been named a finalist in the 2025 Innovation Challenge for its groundbreaking AI tool, The EarthScope.

Inviting some of the best minds from near and afar, the challenge tasked entrants with presenting real world solutions for the FinTech, Cleantech, and Data & AI sectors.

Founded in 2023 by Sarah Mercer and Matthew Warren, Earthscope has already trained nearly 700 professionals and played a pivotal role in making Tynwald the world’s first Carbon Literate Parliament.

“Imagine if every organisation could see the impact of their decisions through a sustainability lens—where every choice becomes a step toward a thriving future,” the Sarah and Matthew explained.

What Does it Do?

The EarthScope is an AI-powered decision-maker designed to embed sustainability into everyday business choices.

The tool combines global sustainability expertise, local context, and user data to deliver actionable advice, helping businesses reduce their carbon footprint while unlocking new opportunities.

“We wanted to develop a transformative tool to give people access to responsive, business-specific sustainability advice,” they shared.

The innovation aligns with Cleantech and Biosphere goals, aiming to make sustainable development accessible to organisations of all sizes.

Challenges included ensuring the AI’s own sustainability and building trust in a field often marred by greenwashing.

“We are overcoming this by embedding clear governance, impact tracking, and traceability into the tool.”

The Isle of Man

Earthscope’s achievements include winning the UNESCO Biosphere Award for Education and securing government contracts for Carbon Literacy training.

Next, they plan to trial The EarthScope with partner organisations before a public launch.

“Being part of the Innovation Challenge will help us find collaborators, advisors, and routes to market,” Earthscope said.
