The Isle of Man national netball team, the Manx Rams, has risen five places to 31st in the latest World Netball (WN) rankings, marking a historic achievement for the squad.
Previously the team has reached as high as 25th, but had slipped in the last few years, showing the progress the team has made to climb back up the ladder.
The updated standings, covering matches played between March 1 and June 1 2025, reflect the team’s strong form, with three wins from five international fixtures.
Pip Cross, President of Isle of Man Netball, said: “This is an incredible milestone for Isle of Man Netball and a testament to the hard work, commitment, and passion shown by our players, coaching staff, and volunteers.
“Climbing five places in the world rankings is no small achievement, and it reflects the progress we are making both on and off the court.”
The rise comes amid a competitive period in global netball, with France dropping from 31st to 39th after recent defeats, allowing the Isle of Man to claim their spot.
This means the island’s team also ranks above India, Israel and Canada, amongst others.
The improved ranking boosts the island’s reputation in the sport and hopefully go on to inspire future players that our island can continue to punch above its weight!
