The Isle of Man Interfaith Group welcomed the Lord Bishop of Sodor and Man, Patricia Hillas, for an evening talk exploring interfaith relations and how strong community connections contribute to a healthy society.
Founded in 2007 by Joanna Kitto of the Brahma Kumaris community, the Group has long promoted friendship and understanding across faiths.
Bishop Patricia’s talk continued that tradition, emphasising the importance of dignity, compassion and relationships in a society strengthened, not divided, by difference.
Drawing on experiences from the island and abroad, she encouraged communities to resist retreating into fear during times of conflict, instead deepening ties through dialogue, shared service and genuine friendship.
She also reflected on the island’s close‑knit character, highlighting the importance of nurturing relationships across schools, families and neighbourhoods.
Following the talk, members discussed expanding interfaith links, religious education in schools and wider community issues such as isolation and wellbeing.
The Group thanked the Christian Science Church for hosting and providing refreshments.
