Sally-Ann Chosen as New Chair

Sally-Ann Franklin Maiden has been elected as the new Chair of Arbory and Rushen Parish Commissioners.

The appointment was made unanimously at the board’s AGM last night.

Mrs Maiden, first elected in 2025, brings experience from business, farming and public service administration.

The outgoing Chair, Kirrie Jenkins, was thanked for her leadership over a challenging year, including work to remove Clause 5 from the Local Government Amendment Bill.

In her annual report, Mrs Jenkins said: “Following the 2025 Local Authority Elections, I would firstly like to mention our two newest Commissioners, Juan Hargreaves and Sally Ann-Franklin Maiden.

“Both have settled into their roles extremely well and have already become valued and active members of the Board.”

She also paid tribute to retiring Clerk Phil Gawne, adding: “Phil has served the Commissioners and the wider community with professionalism, commitment and integrity throughout his time in office, and his contribution has been invaluable.”

Mrs Franklin Maiden said: “I am delighted to take the position of Chair; it is an honour to serve our parishioners. We have had a busy year and I look forward to continuing the sterling work done by our outgoing Chair.”
