An investigation is ongoing after concerns were raised about Visit Isle of Man’s contractor engagement, procurement processes, and adherence to government financial regulations.
The Department for Enterprise confirmed the probe in a statement today but said it would be “inappropriate” to comment further while inquiries continue.
The department stressed that executive agencies, including Visit Isle of Man, are responsible for driving economic growth, working with the private sector to “support businesses, create employment opportunities, and foster the right environment for growth.”
However, it clarified that these agencies are “not arms-length bodies” and remain “fully accountable to the department.”
Visit Isle of Man operates under the Tynwald-approved “Our Island, Our Future” 10-year strategy, with the department stating that delivering this plan remains its priority.
Major decisions, such as policy changes or spending, require departmental approval, with significant financial matters needing Treasury or even Tynwald clearance.
Earlier this week Steve Pickett was announced as the new non-executive chair of the Visit Isle of Man Board.
