IOM is Being Deceived Over Wind Farm Says Burgess

A climate scientist and chartered engineer who visited the Island last month, is claiming that the Manx Utilities Authority (MUA) are ‘deluded’ in their claims over the predicted performance of a proposed wind farm.

Paul Burgess has produced two videos where he analyses each of the points made by the MUA in their response to the Manx.News interview.

Mr Burgess is adamant that the MUA have still completely miscalculated all the numbers in coming to the figures for projected ‘load factors’ at Earystane.

they exposed just how lacking they are in any understanding of the work they purport to be doing.

Paul Burgess on MUA statement to Manx.News

He said, “Manx Utilities responded to my earlier claims. In doing this they exposed just how lacking they are in any understanding of the work they purport to be doing. This video goes through every point they make and frankly demolishes their entire project that they are pushing onto the Manx people having already wasted many millions.”

The two videos by Burgess, were prompted by the Manx Utilities Authority’s written response to the Manx.News interview by Mr Burgess – You can read their full response in this article.

Mr Burgess goes on to question how the Isle of Man is claiming levels of ‘load factor’ way above the figures that are being achieved around the UK and Ireland. He says the Isle of Man appears to be defying physics in the claims made by the MUA. “This is just not possible” says Burgess.

Burgess stated he used figures published by a United Kingdom Government Department (Dept. for Energy Security & Net Zero) to prove the load factors being achieved in the UK nations where drastically different to what is being claimed by the Isle of Man as projected load factor for Earystane.

MUA Decline Interviews

Manx.News has requested interviews with representatives from MUA so these claims can be put to the Authority. We requested the opportunity to interview, project lead Lizzie Riley and Chair John Wannenburgh MHK, however the Authority has declined to be interviewed.

Manx.News invitation remains open to both the Chair of the MUA and to the Project Lead.

You can watch the two parts of Mr Burgess’ video below.
